Department of Human Intelligence of Robot Engineering Swept the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Competition

  Students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University participated in the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival Robot Competition and won eight events. The 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival was held for two days on October 15 and October 16 for the first time in three years due to COVID-19. The 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival is a robot festival including a robot competition and a carnival, and aims to develop the local robot industry, foster talent, and motivate the public and private sectors. In this article, I will introduce each of the nine events held at the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival Robot Competition. In addition, I will introduce which eight categories of students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University won in this competition, which plays an important role in the development of the robot industry.

The 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival Robot Competition

  Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, held the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Competition to develop the robot industry, which is the core industry of the 4th Industrial Revolution, based on the excellent industrial infrastructure of Bucheon-si.

  The competition events of the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Competition were 9 events, which were divided into 15 categories.

  There were a total of nine events in the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Competition, including humanoid fighting, humanoid dance, humanoid mission, humanoid running, after-school robot class, drone competition, driving mission competition, children's coding competition, and family participation robot family.

  Sun-woo Kim, 1st grade at Sangmyung University's Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering, won the grand prize in the humanoid fighting warrior event and the humanoid running warrior event, respectively. He also won a bronze medal in the humanoid dance event, winning a total of three events. Da-young In, a 3rd grade student from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, won the Humanoid Dance Award and the Gold Prize in the Humanoid Running Warrior event. Dong-kyu Kim, a 3rd grade student from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, won the Gold Prize in the Humanoid Fighting Warrior event. Tae-yoon Lim, a 2nd grade student from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, won a silver prize in the humanoid running warrior event and a bronze medal in the humanoid dance event with Kim Sun-woo on the same team. Joon-ho Song, a 3rd grade student from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, won the Humanoid Fighting Warrior Award. Students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University won a total of three grand prizes, two gold prizes, one silver prize, one bronze prize, and one encouragement prize at the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Festival Robot Competition. These excellent accomplishments can be said to show the efforts and excellent capabilities of the students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University.

  Sun-woo Kim, 1st grade in Sangmyung University's the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering who won the grand prize in two categories at the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Festival, said, "It was my first time to deal with a robot platform used in college, so I was unfamiliar with it, but I'm happy to win the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Festival Robot Competition with the help of Professor Tae-gu Kang and seniors."

Professor Tae-gu Kang of the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, who guided students to perform well at the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Festival Robot Competition, said, "Sangmyung University is running support programs such as participating in the competition as part of the intelligent robot sharing university project." He also mentioned the possibility of developing the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University, saying, "We plan to develop more diverse educational programs to strengthen practical capabilities in the field of intelligent robots and foster engineering talent."

  Through the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Festival Robot Competition, students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University showed their enthusiasm for their major. The fact that the students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University performed well at the 5th Bucheon Fantasia Robot Festival Robot Competition proved the value of students from the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University and the infinite potential for the Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University. The Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University has won 139 awards in suburban robot and invention competitions over the past five years since the department was opened. In addition, Sangmyung University has established an intelligent robot departmentas well as a convergence major, so that students of Sangmyung University can develop their interest in the robot field regardless of their major or affiliation, even if they are not human intelligence robot engineering students.


  As a result, students of Sangmyung University can freely take courses in the field of new technology by level/field regardless of their major or affiliation.The Department of Human Intelligence Robot Engineering at Sangmyung University is striving to provide students with high-quality learning experiences.
